"Oh, Lord Jesus!"

I've been enjoying lately how wonderful it is to call on His name. I'm reading a book called The Living and Practical Way to Enjoy Christ.

Chapter 4 is called "Calling On His Name," and as I was reading it, so many enjoyable things came out. One section is titled "Calling on the Lord to Enjoy His Riches."

And here are some of the things I enjoyed:
Romans 10:12 says that the Lord is rich to all who call upon Him. It doesn't say that the Lord is rich unto all that believe in Him, worship Him, or pray to Him. It says the Lord is rich to those who call upon him. Christ is so rich. He can be everything to us. We can enter into the enjoyment of all the riches of Christ by calling on His name -- "Oh Lord Jesus,"

When Saul of Tarsus was going to persecute the believers in Damascus, he was going to "bind all who call upon Your[the Lord's] name." (Acts 9:14) So we can see that a characteristic of a Christian is that he calls upon the Lord's name.

We are vessels to contain the God. He has completed His incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection, and now He has become the Life-Giving Spirit (1 Cor 15:45b). Now all we need to do is call upon His name, and he will come and get into us. Try not to think about it too much; it's not about exercising your mind to understand it. Just exercise your mouth and call "Lord Jesus," and he will get into you.

  1. amen! Very interesting to see that in the beginning a believer in Christ was actually someone who was calling on the name of Jesus! Today we need to be recovered to this - calling O Lord Jesus! I love to call on His name!
